Cozy Cabins in the Great Smoky Mountain Foothills at Cherokee KOA Holiday

Catch more than just views on the Smokies’ scenic side.

Located just five miles from the Oconaluftee Visitor Center, the Cherokee/Great Smokies KOA Holiday isn’t just the perfect place to base your Great Smoky Mountains National Park trip. The property alone is worth a vacation. With tournament-worthy trout fishing, themed weekends like Christmas in July and Big Foot Weekend, you’ll be torn between adventuring in the park and staying in.

This KOA has accommodations for every type of traveler. If you’re a camper, bring your own tent or RV and call Cherokee home for a few days. If you’re interested in a roof over your head, rent one of their rustic camping cabins. You’ll have beds and a beautiful patio and will have access to the campground’s bath house. If you’re looking for a more upscale experience, rent a deluxe cabin. You’ll have a kitchen, a bathroom and all the comforts of home during your vacation.

Nestled along the scenic Raven Fork River, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to cool down in the summer. Pick up your fishing license from the general store and cast a line in the river or the tribal trout ponds nearby. If you’re in town on Aug. 10 or Oct. 12, you can participate in the fishing tournament. If fishing isn’t your forte, float down the river on an inner tube, or enjoy our indoor or outdoor pool. The property’s shuttle will transport you to your starting location.

Whatever activities your day holds, make sure to end it with dinner at the Campfire Grill onsite. Don’t forget to look up at the stars on your way back to bed.
