Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont
The Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont is a year-round residential environmental education center in the Smokies, which offers summer camps, school programs, family camps, naturalist workshops and programs for kids of all ages.
Summer Youth Programs
Summer youth programs focus on exploring the Smokies, hands-on science and adventure. Three-to-five day overnight school programs engage students with Tremont’s award winning hands-on curricula, which is aligned with grade levels and teaching standards.
Adult and Family Year-Round Programs
Get the whole family outside to learn more about the Great Smokies through the institute’s fantastic programs. The 2019 workshop line up includes everything from Smoky Mountain Family Camp, a six-day program, to Springtime in the Smokies: Photography Workshop. Naturalist Classes and Certification
The field-based program offers training in southern Appalachian ecology and interpretive techniques. Core classes in naturalist skills and local animals is supplemented with elective offerings.
